    YO GEORGIANS! :)

Hi Everyone, I haven't been on in a while but I was wondering if anyone has a silkie rooster that needs a good home? I'm in LaGrange. Thanks!

It looks like our blackberry vines we have in our backyard. If its not they were growing extremely close together.Quote: We call these brambles. A couple of times I let them grow thinking I might get blackberries. No such luck. So it might be a berry but might just be a bramble.

Ya'll are freaking me out with this snake talk. :shudder: I've just set two broody hens on eggs and worried snakes will get in there. Plus I don't even want to think about getting eggs today. I guess it's best to be warned. I need to take my flashlight with me from now on just in case. I...

Thanks. I have never had a rooster that always got his way. My hens have always kept them in line. My main point was that when the hens start letting (by not hollering or trying to get away) the rooster mount them it can maybe signal that she is getting ready to start laying. If she hasn't...

My hens slowed down the last couple of weeks but then yesterday I got one from all 20 of 21 layers. I think I had a squirrel eating the eggs. At first I thought one of my birds but then realized there is no way. I started going out there when I could about every hour and started getting more...

Quote: I added one to mine on this second hatch. Luckily I had all the parts laying in a box which I should have thrown out and now glad I didn't. I do notice the temps staying more stable. (Using a Hovabator 1602N)

You must have hit the chicken lotto as well. When I tried this a few years ago my chickens all had fits and tore them off then slammed them on the ground and stomped on them. I kid you not I actually saw a few of them get thrown down in disgust. LOL

I find the thermometer thing to be so frustrating. I think I have it corrected now but my first hatch was only 34% and I think it was because the hygrometers and thermometers were all wildly off the mark. Now on this second hatch I bought two exactly the same and I tested them first. We'll...

I do, too! I do have a couple of hens that have come and stood on me when I was out sitting in my chicken clothes and then sat down and took a wee nap. So that was not about food. I put in a lot of time with them from the time they were 2 day old chicks. I would sit with them for a couple of...

Haha! Well some of mine will be a mystery but I do know their Moms and Dads. Can't wait to see what you have there. I'll try to remember about the dark room.

Good Morning! I also started a hatch this month and they should hatch on the 5th of May. I've never done it before so it's fun. I am going to candle mine on the tenth day. What kind of chicks will you get? I'll have a barnyard assortment.
