I'm hoping to make it. I requested the day off from work, but they've already started begging me come in.
Is anyone planning on bringing anything to sell/swap??
So I know there are some people here that understand genetics better than I do. I have a black ameraucana rooster and one black and one splash pullet. I can easily tell the two girls' eggs apart. So I should end up with blue chicks from the splash and black chicks from the black. I swear a black...
I wouldn't pay as much attention to feathering with the AMs. My last black pullet almost had another home because she was so slow to feather in. Her comb never grew. That was her saving grace.
I am near Savannah and have had a really tough time finding much nearby. I have an ameraucana roo who has recently come of age. He is with an assortment of girls, most of which are not laying yet. The ones who should be laying are doing some serious slacking. Please share if you find anything.

I had a hen with an impacted crop. She displayed similar issues. I'm not sure what you can do if she did eat the vet wrap. Are you up for crop surgery? Some seem to do it easily, but I don't know if I could do it.
I'd love it. Being in the country and getting to a point of self sufficiency is living "the life" to me. Of course, people think it means something is wrong with me, but I look forward to that day.
I've only experienced that look twice. First time was an impacted crop. I was too much of a newbie to realize anything was wrong until it was really wrong. Second time, my pullet that was making that face dropped a soft-shelled egg and was immediately better after that.
I need all of your expertise! I just bought two pullets that will be arriving wed. How do you all quarantine? I've read two weeks, 30 ft from flock and I've read 30 days. Someone else suggested adding one of the existing hens after the initial quarantine to see if the new birds are carriers...
