With all due respect, regulations controlling mercury pollution will be relaxed, and I wouldn't want to live or raise children in those areas. Industries don't support cutting back on these regulations.

My aunt and uncle had a coal chute and bin in their home, but they didn't use it.

Boggles my mind, they KNOW how bad that stuff can be and yet they still continue to use it.

Actually, the pollution is because they burn coal. It's especially a problem during the winter months. My pictures were taken in February, and the pictures taken in Wuhan might have been February too. We took a train from Xi'an to Beijing to catch some of the countryside. Couldn't see anything.

Thanks for the tips! My DH talked with a friend and was told that even those masks are hard to find. Fortunately, DH talked with our local pharmacist, and he found a box for us. Ten masks for $8-something, so I'm all set for my trip. :)

I was over there about 6 years ago. Smog was awful!

You know what's crazy. You can't find any medical face masks. All our local stores -- CVS, Target, etc., are sold out. I went on Amazon and the prices are CRAZY. A box of 10 was $60+. Normally about $8.00. I'm flying to Australia in a couple weeks and wanted a couple on hand for the plane...
