Interesting! We have quite a few crows that hang around our property, so I'd be interested to know how they impact Hawks, etc. I don't see or notice Hawks around.
I think predators are always on the mind of chicken owners. I believe our most worrisome predators in my area are mostly nocturnal; raccoons, fox, coyotes. I'm not as worried about those due to how solid it is when they're in the coop.
But maybe I'm wrong.
Getting there. But it's always something with a project right?! My drill died this past week, so project is on hold until I can replace the drill or borrow one for now.
I haven't tracked expenses. Although I made a couple of unnecessary purchases, I would say I'll probably end at between the $400-500 range. That may be a high estimate. I'm not including the automatic Chicken door in that price (which was a personal preference of mine.) $200 with tax.

I've considered heat tape. But I don't have power out to my coop, and its too far from a power source to run an extension cord.
