Picked up the lumber today and ready to get started! Kids even helped me.

Coop will be the perfect size for our small flock and will allow for decent modification as we go. I will forego the chicken run because we'll have a large pen and I'll add an automatic coop door and a single solar panel to power a water heater and a light for the long winters here in Upstate NY. At least that's the plan as I get started. We'll see how it all ends. Thanks for following along.

So Cool to see young girl using tape measure!!
Leave the red marked areas open for ventilation,
same for lower edge of roof in back.
Put a fascia on the rafter ends to block strong winds.

Cover soffit with 1/2" hardware cloth to keep critters out.

Also maybe go with a side access for nests, instead of top access...less chance of water infiltration than with top hinge.
