Follow along on my Coop Build!

Today's progress!! There's more time when we're all under quarantine! 😆😆

Automatic chicken door from Omlet is ordered and in transit! Super excited about the automatic door. Link here for the door: https://www.omlet.us/shop/chicken_keeping/automatic_chicken_coop_door_opener/

We are going to follow the plan for the most part but change it up a bit. We are making 2 - 4 x 6 coops back to back with runs out the ends to hold our chickens and we will use his plan pretty much. We are going to use a rainbarrel system for water and insulate/ heat tape so it won't freeze in winter with a pond heater inside the barrel. I am getting excited to get building. We got 1/2 of our supplies today and getting the rest tomorrow.... It's getting real and I am getting so excited!!!

Fantastic!! That sounds great!

I've considered heat tape. But I don't have power out to my coop, and its too far from a power source to run an extension cord.

I'd love to see pics as you build!

I will gladly post you some updates as we go along
I think it is going to work great. I thank you so much for pointing is in that direction. I wouldn't have found it otherwise. 💖

Update: added wall studs and trusses, and cut osb for walls. Nesting box started as well. Getting there!

we are doing this coop with a couple alterations. We went with 4x6 for the base, going to put the nesting areas inside the coop(has a lot to do with our space), and no clean out tray. Since its a lot wider, we will have a bigger door and be able to easily clean. Since we have a fenced back yard, we are just adding some overhead netting and pasture fencing to make a big run area. I used peel and stick linoleum for the base. Will put some more pics here as we get done. So

Looks great! Where did you get the linoleum?
