Late update: I got two chicks from the 3 eggs in incubator. The last egg quit around day 19 I figured. I did an eggtopsy and took pics. Is there a better place to post that rather than derail this thread?

Oh, Fancy Nancy :love I love her plumage just as much as her talent for getting the gold medal for worst molt. She’s an ALLSTAR in my mind.

Hey, would you mind checking out my candling pics- (pleeeaaasssee) There’s a weird blob in the aircell. I made a post in incubating and hatching this morning but it got shoved down. Btw- I just love your thumbnail pic of Fancy Nancy—best most ever!

Interesting. There was what looked like fecal content and a grey blob— She looks fine, pooped in the incubator, dried off and is in the brooder. Ate some crumble, pooped so I’m assuming the GI tract is intact.

nvr mind—saw instructions to pinch and did it. she looks good

I’m leaving it..looks like umbilical cord.

Chick is dragging shell around the incubator like it’s stuck to her. Is that normal? Do I pull it off gently?

Heard. I put paper towel on shavings and crumble on that. the brooder bottom is a dog crate pan and has a crack- needed a brooder in a pinch so this is it.

I hear chirping! Candled briefly yesterday and the dark egg was completely full, no movement so I thought it was dead but left it in bc no odor. So glad I did! No ext pip yet. Other egg looks unchanged but there was movement. Little Chance may have a playmate soon- poor guy is thriving but...

I candled eggs tonight and they are drawn down. Getting so close! My little chick is doing ok. Toes and one nostril is bruised, and a peck wound to the flank, but chick is alive at least and currently resting in incubator. I named him/her “Chance”.

I’m curious about the purpose of the yarn. Is that to prevent rolling?

Not at all. She’s top bird and the space is plentiful. She’s just a complete AH

Thankfully its not her eggs. I posted her for rehome locally with full disclosure. If no one can give her a rooster/chick free home then she will be culled. Her name is Sweets-🤔 Boy is that wrong!
