Some white tailed deer browsing through the front yard the other day around dusk, 2 does and 2 fawns. They enjoy the acorns falling off the live oaks right now. (Sorry it's not a better shot, took the picture through a window)

Yeah, between our hawk and all the migrators that passing through our area, I'm reluctant to let the girls roam right now.

Not sure how much hunting the owls do before it's full dark. But I'm guessing if the girls had been roaming loose, it's very likely he would've tried for an easy dinner.

That's what we call the hawk that lives here, Screechy, she's quite loud, especially if another raptor comes into her territory.

I hear that! Hubby can pick her up very briefly (think 15 seconds is the record) for a cuddle IF she's feeling agreeable at the moment. I have to settle for couple of quick head scritches or brush my hand down her back and then move away - quickly! 🤣
