I lost track of this thread . . . they are looking beautiful. I have several breeds that are between 15 and 19 weeks old and not a single egg from the whole lot. I did get a few bantam eggs over two weeks and nothing since. I might have to do nest hunt soon.
This is the one I got: https://www.homedepot.com/p/iLIVING-18-in-Rechargeable-Battery-Operated-Camping-Floor-Fan-High-Velocity-Portable-Outdoor-Fan-with-Built-in-Lithium-Battery-ILG8RX18/326436664
I set it outside the run so I don't have to worry about chickens jumping on it and pooping all...
One of my Buff Orpingtons races along the fence and cries until I go in and let her sit on my lap. Then she looks me in the eyes and tells me all about her day . . . I might have another Sweety on my hands and I love every second of it. Her name is Precious :love
Don't tell me that . . . . thankfully it's getting cooler, but I'll have to keep this in mind.
I actually bought an outdoor battery powered fan for the chickens, they also get frozen fruit frequently.
I also freeze water bottles and put in the waterers. I never have to refill them, just...
I have 4 cochins, as well. I thought they were all buff, but two are feathering in darker, so I think I have 2 Buff Cochins and 2 Frizzled Red Cochins.
Edit: Cochin Bantams . . . I forgot they come in standards, too.
I think that's part of the problem with the RIR too. Sweety, my very affectionate love of a pullet (with people), will chase them off if she sees that I'm giving them any attention. . . . maybe it's not all their fault, lol.
My problem girl will just chase them around the yard for kicks, even when food isn't involved.
She's the friendliest of the RIR to me, so that makes it suck even more. She may be friendly to me since she's the lowest ranking, currently, and just wants attention from someone who doesn't chase...
I love that no one on here really corrects each other on typos, unless it's complete gibberish. I've reread a few of my posts and wondered if I was drunk when I wrote it (I don't drink) but other people just responded without hesitation, lol
My yard also smells better now than it did before I got the chickens.
Before when it would rain heavy and the water would sit for a few days the yard would have a boggy swamp smell.
Since I got the chickens and added soil sand etc to their runs the yard drains better than it did before and...
I'm just outside the city limits. Roosters are allowed as long as neighbors don't complain and I can have as many chickens as I can reasonably manage, as long as they're contained on the property and well kept. I just think the thing about 'neighbors not complaining' is ridiculous because what...
That's the kind of thing I worry about. Of the three neighbors I have two are rental properties. The current renters don't mind the roosters, but if anyone new moves in they might try to start problems.
I did notice the '?' at the end, so I had to double check my calendar, lol.
The funny thing is I typed it out rather than just using the number, so I was committed to being blatantly wrong, lol.
I meant August, lol. My brain is mush this week, lol. I'll fix it . . .the typo that is, my brain just needs sleep . . . I'll get that someday :idunnosoon.
Just to update things here, my BO started laying just to prove me wrong of course, lol. She just turned 5 months on the 28th of August. I'll keep my guess the same though because your BO's comb and wattles are still a bit pale. I'll get a picture of mine for reference in a bit.
