    NY chicken lover!!!!

I've been so busy lately, I'm trying to make alterations to the old coop. Its just an old shed that was on our property when we moved here 11 years ago. We converted it to a coop last summer and at the time I knew nothing about chickens. Over the winter I had a ton of frostbite issues, I had no...

If only you were closer! Nobody around here has Brahmas. I have some hatchery right now and I would love some more! They are the nicest chickens I have. The Delawares are a close 2nd.

    NY chicken lover!!!!

That's a beautiful bird. Are you going to name it? I took lots of pics yesterday of the flock free ranging but I used my phone so I need to put them on the laptop before I can upload them. This new phone wont allow me to do it. Maybe I will find time later.

Good morning all. I gave away 11 dozen eggs yesterday! I'm pretty excited :) I have decided after seeing all the pics that I must have some of Country boys eggs! LOL. I just need a broody hen first. If any one has one they want to get rid of or let me borrow let me know ;)

I certainly wouldn't bring stuff to sell to an auction and expect to make any money but if you go as a buyer you can get some good deals. You really have to preview the stuff though. Someone had a rooster that was labeled as a BR but it had a beard. So yeah you have to be careful. The biggest...

    NY chicken lover!!!!

This morning before heading to the small animal auction in Adams, the husband and I went to the barn to grab the dog box just in case we bought something and we found 17 white eggs inside it! One or two of the leghorns have been sneeky. It wouldn't bother me had she been sitting on them but...

    NY chicken lover!!!!

:( I'm sorry, that stinks. I guess we all make mistakes and learn from them. I made the mistake of thinking I could trust my dogs with my chickens and one of my CR chicks paid for it. They have always been around each other and were fine I don't understand it. I also thought it was adorable that...

    NY chicken lover!!!!

Well we went and did it. We got ducks! 15 of them! They are 4 weeks old and quite big already. They are the cutest. Very skiddish little buggers, I hope that changes soon. We got 5 Mallards, 5 Rouen and 5 Pekin. My husband really has his heart set on Calls but we can't find any near by.

    NY chicken lover!!!!

Thanks Rancher. The chicks are adorable of course. They are not socializing with my little one yet but I'm sure they will soon enough. Of course I can't say no to a roo, especially since you're nice enough to give me chicks.

    NY chicken lover!!!!

I was quite pleased last night that that my lonely penguin chick decided to cuddle with her stuffed animal. I was actually able to get a decent amount of sleep! When I checked this morning she actually had some food in her crop. Yay! I have some 8-9 week chicks outside now with the older...

I tried a mirror but it didn't work. Rancher has some chicks for me but unfortunetly I can't get them until tomorrow. I hope she lasts that long I still can't get her to eat or drink.

    NY chicken lover!!!!

I can't stand to hear this poor lonely chick cheeping its head off. Its not only sad but frustrating as I have tried everything to quiet her and nothing works. She wont eat wont drink I don't even think she sleeps! I wish I had time to get her friends today. There never seems to be enough time...

    NY chicken lover!!!!

LOL! Thanks, good thing I'm surrounded by trees! I did some research and it says to spray a germacide first which kills bacteria and also cuts down the dust. After its all cleaned I will scrub it with some bleach.

    NY chicken lover!!!!

Thank you, that was interesting. Its hard to believe people raise them. The coop has been empty for a year, I'm not sure if that matters. We will definitely be wearing gloves and masks while cleaning it. We plan on pressure washing the inside, I'll probably use a couple gallons of bleach now...

Thanks Marquisella, that's exactly what I did. She seems much happier. TOB I call her my little penguin right now. She really looks just like a penguin baby haha. I don't know if it will stick. And don't worry if I go to Rancher's I wont touch your Dels ;)
