NY chicken lover!!!!

Here's a little snippet of my crowing chick. Had to mess with the color as it was DARK in the room and my cell takes lousy videos. I cut out a long period of him walking around doing the rooster 'wing flap'. Seems each morning when I turn the lights on he crows a few times then I never hear it again.. had to be quick. :)

County Boy,

Is this Peanut Butter? I think he is by far my favorite! As always, your bird pictures are absolute eye candy.

Yes, that is Peanut Butter. He turned out much better than I ever had hoped. Another favorite here. His combh ad a rough winter as well. Here are pics of him as a 4 month old-

The office is the room I use. It stays at least 70* , but I can also add heat by hanging a 250 heat light in here. You also want a room that is closed off and does not get a lot of traffic. You should be able to find one for that amount easily, if you don't buy a turner, but you will eventually.

My thing is I'm never guaranteed a good hatch or fertile eggs. So if I set too many or too few I won't get what I need. Plus right now I've chicks I don't want. I'm working on getting more Lavs EE's.

No one around here will buy chicks so I sell them cheap or trade or give them away. Which reminds me I need a chain saw. Nothing big or fancy or to take down huge trees. I can't cut 4" to 6" around trees by hand.
I missed this somehow, my office will be the perfect location then. I'm the only one who spends any time in here and when I do it's to sit my butt down and work.

x2   Urea reconstituted with water from the pressure washer will make ammonia.  Ammonia and Bleach make a toxic/deadly gas.   Of course you will be outdoors while doing this, but anything less than a gas mask and you will run the risk of lung damage.     So wash with plain water first.  Scrape and wash again with water.  THEN bleach the heck out of it.   Gloves and mask.  And try not to let the neighbors see you, cuz they will start to talk.  LOL

LOL! Thanks, good thing I'm surrounded by trees! I did some research and it says to spray a germacide first which kills bacteria and also cuts down the dust. After its all cleaned I will scrub it with some bleach.

Remember to choose your spot wisely to take on the task, all the runoff of waste and chemicals can't be good. Good Luck with everything, hope it's worth it after all is said and done!?! Ha

I was just woken up by the squabbles again and I am wondering, is it normal for 3-4 week old chicks to be DIGGING in their brooder?! I mean throwing around the pine, ripping apart the newspaper and generally acting like they're scratching for bugs at this age.
My chicks are not even a week old and some of them are scratching around in the shavings. I put my hand down in the brooder with some food on it and one of the chicks hopped into my hand and scratched around a bit. They are also "roosting" on top of the feeder. I often catch a couple of them perched on the edge of the feeder sleeping...they grow up so fast
