I had the same problem with my old truck but on both sides. No welder. So I found a couple sheets medium thick aluminum. I pounded them into shape, put some old roofing patch all over the floor and then I used a drill pop riveter to attach the aluminum to a few good places around the edges where...

All this talk of pussy willows, reminds me of my oldest son. He rooted one in Kindergarten and we planted it in our back yard. This thing grew like crazy and I have to keep cutting it back every year to keep the back neighbor off my back. I mean, who cuts branches from your tree on there side of...

Yay! Post 100 to RaZ and Farmerboy16!! I've been watching the swans and geese land on my pond. They come in on partial ice and just as they think they made a smooth landing - wham - them fall through the ice! Like watching bowling pins fall. Quote: I hope it turns up for you.

I've been down in the barn since 8 this morning, taking care of the horses and getting a few chores done. My toes finally got cold so I had to take a break. Coffee really hit the spot this afternoon. This is the first time this winter I actually got a little cold (I am so appreciative or our...

I've been following all the discussion about crop problems and worms. I am new to all this. How frequently do chickens have problems with their crops? Is it something that you routinely check for?

Hillbilly Hen, Thanks. I am going to raise Black (maybe white too) Javas. I met a lady in Willis, MI that raises them and I will get some from her this Spring. I was also thinking of maybe a couple Guineas. RBahmer, Thanks. Those baby chicks are so cute! No wonder it is so easy to fall in...

Good morning all!! Bright and sunny day - I'll take all we can get this winter!!! Snowflake, BobBry, my sister did approve of me having chickens. She wants to use the old coop up by the house which is a long way from the horses. There are a couple paddocks up here that are used sometimes. So...

Well the old coop is attached to the garage. It is 8' x 10' and I can attach a covered run 8' x 12'. How many chickens would that support? I can add another run 8' x 22' and possible to let them free range occasionally as long as I can monitor them and there are no horses out the the paddocks...

Sorry for your loss RBahmer. Even a seasoned person still feels bad when losing one of their flock. On another note, how messy and smelly is it really to raise chickens. My sister owns the farm and now she says I can't use a stall in the old barn because they are messy and smelly and she...
