I'm well..thank you! It was negative. :). It was a strange illness..not sure what was up. I had three of the symptoms..but tested negative. No one else got sick in the house. Thank heavens.
I'm in central .. Spanish Fork. I've had luck with so many different breeds through the years. Even with the cold, those leghorns with their long floppy combs do welll. What folks tend to like are the good egg layers, and, the better temperaments. The Sexlinks are great. I love the reds...
I always hatched. Spring, summer, Fall, and winter. I was so addicted. Kept them in the house for a while when it was cold..used a heat source in a nursery for the little. Now, no chickens for me..after 11 years. This used to be quite an active thread, not do much now. :idunno
Oh Wendy..open heart. My husband had a that years ago. Bad mitral valve. He's been great that way! They were able to use his own extra skin to repair, no pigs valve, or artificial. I'll have to see if I can find Diana. :).

I've had bantam babies and normal sized babies together before. Are you worried about the feed store baby being too big now? I think they would be fine. Have done this before..when only the two, it works...bantam baby usually hides under the others wing, or, laying real close. :)
I hear that most folks..if using sand, use the kind that they get for children's sand boxes. I wouldn't know. :idunno .I've had chickens for years. In the beginning..I used the shavings. I'm also in the city/neighborhood. Now, I just let them dig around in the dirt floor of the run...
