I do have one question though. Someone had said about putting the chicks after they hatch in with the broody if she takes to being a good mom. How does this work? My nesting boxes are 16 inches up. How will the chicks do with that?

With the advice you guys gave me I took 4 of the eggs and put them under my broody hen. I kept 6 in the incubator. I started with 12. 2 of which didn't develop when I heckled them at day 14.

I have a question. I have had eggs in the incubator for 15 days. Yesterday one of my Cochins went broody. Would it be possible for me to take the eggs that are in my incubator and put them under my hen? Or should I just leave them in the incubator for the remaining days? Not sure if it's...

You know, their son i have issues with who doesn't live here he was visiting. As for my neighbors. I have one house within sight of me and its them. I give them a dozen eggs or two a month and they share what they have out of their garden and what not. I'm really lucky that I have neighbors...

I appreciate the response. They were Gold laced Cochins and Black Australorps. I could only hope for some CCL or Ameraucanas. Maybe that is what I will look to replace them with next spring. Another question that just popped into my head. I have a rooster. He isn't really pretty, in my...

It's a case of my neighbors son has a new husky, that he decided he was going to let run. I guess I don't have to point out where the story is going. I was wondering about what I should ask for. The worst part is after he grabbed the dog, he set it back down again and it took off and got...

The two hens that I have still seem healthy. Right now the one is laying every day. The other is laying every other day. I haven't noticed any blood in their stool and they seem to be eating and drinking just fine. Hope it was just that one incidence and not something that is infectious.

Having trouble breathing? Temp? Could potentially have pneumonia. Or something else that has a tendency to cause lethargy. In which case you potentially need some antibiotics.

so I figured I'd post a pic of the two little roosters that I got for a two hour drive. The one is in my opinion a rather attractive guy. He crows like the dickens though. The other one. Not nearly as pretty but he doesn't crow at all. Anyone have an ideal why he wouldn't be crowing yet?
