I know, right? We're all whining about the cold (it's 57 degrees today, no wind).
Big Bertha is actually the one I had problems with a while back, I thought she had Mareks but I think she's just too fat, ahem....fluffy, and her little legs can't hold up all the woman that she is.
It hasn't snowed here since 1989 so I have no coversation to offer, LOL.
I promised my lady friends some eggs. I am going to walk over there on Saturday and crash their party and give them a dozen.
By popular demand...Big Bertha! I have more photos at home but this is the only one I have...
Ok so update on my loud mouth Dellie. I peeked over my back fence to talk to some of my neighbors this afternoon. There is a senior apartment complex behind us and some of the ladis always sit at this table for coffee/tea/etc a few times a day. So I say "I noticed one of my hens is extremely...
I had a Dellie hen named Maxie, may she rest in peace, who bellowed like a cow.
:lau:lau
I laugh/snorted when I read that.
I really don't know what to do with her. I mean, I love her and all, but dear lord she's annoying!!!
Are your Dellies really LOUD?? Mine is so loud, it's annoying, actually. I'm shocked that none of my neighbors have called in a complaint yet! She's actually the worst when she sees that I am home and I haven't let her out to free range. She just stands at the door of the run and SCREAMS.
Oh awesome Kathy, thank you! That gives me some hope that she'll be okay. She is really quite heavy, and I wonder if everything else in addition to her "fluffy" figure might make it difficult for her.....
Off to read. And make a list. I started the B-12 today, I'll get the E and PolyViSol...
Thanks, Kathy. I will try to keep her secluded.....she just screams and the others surround her. I don't know where else to put her, maybe in the garage but it gets SO hot in there. I hate not knowing what's wrong with her or having the means to make her better. I just noticed this today and...
Something is wrong with my sweet Dellie! I posted on the main board, but I'm just so upset that I'm bringing it here. All of a sudden, she sits back on her hocks when she's not walking. And even when she does walk, it looks like she's off balance. I don't suspect Marek's, because she doesn't...
Trying to get my head on straight and then I will see pics of the birds or even someone elses and I just want to sit and cry. Dumb, but I really miss them.
Not dumb. Not at all. I lost 3 of mine recently to a dog and I cried about it for a week. I would see their pictures, walk past where we...

LOL. I know you warned me but she's just too dang cute!! AND OMG LOUD. She is SO LOUD. I can hear her from the garage when I am alllllllllll the way in the
back of our yard. Sheesh!
I do have help. We built the run, I'm sure we could build a coop. Now I'm just wondering why I even bought the dog house! Dangit. Oh well.
I've been collecting pallets from the warehouse behind our warehouse where I work, and I'm ripping them apart, separating them in to 2x4's and planks...
Artist and zookeeper. Wife to a smart, hard-working hubby. Mom to one beautiful daughter, 7 llamas, 3 goat wethers, a boxer, a husky mix, a keeshond mix, 5 pampered indoor cats, 2 robust barn cats, 4 guinea keets, and 9 chickens (2 pullets and 7 cockerels - I know, right!?!)
Hi, my name is...

What kind of advice? The simple most important rule is ..... BIGGER is better!
Well, I already have the run built and it was supposed to be for 4 chickens. But then I lost 3 and got 4 to replace them which equals 5 chickens. Two are in there right now and the babies are in the...
It's not too terribly hot here right now. Today is a nice day, about 85 degrees and not very humid. We really have perfect weather compared to other states. Not too hot, not too cold, not extremely humid. No snow, it's just beautiful. Jealous??
Anywhoo, I really thought you all were...

And how so? DO TELL! Pictures, videos, hilarious stories would help.
