We have 2 chicks from the feed store (labeled "ameraucana pullets" lol so I am assuming EEs!) and 2 have beards! But no green feet :/
And awhile back I posted this non bearded EE and it might be a Roo...day I love the coloring lol think its still a roo?
I love her lol my dog saved her from a hawk as a chick and she's been forever greatful. No matter how much she coos tho the dog won't let her lay an egg in the doghouse :gig
In starting to think this lil pullet might be a lil roo.
Redish brown is coming in on the top of the wings now tho, but all black and white like last week lol
Pullet maybe still?
Well my easter egger broody hen has adopted our batch of 9 week old Cornish cross...cute but A. They don't need help finding food lol and B. What happens when we process the Cornish?! :th she's gonna freak out...
Beautiful eggs! My EE lays green tinted and end of season, eggs are light grey almost white. It happens. Usually it s a shade or so off. If it is indeed the same hen laying I'd guess a few will be bright blue until her brown "coating" gets rolling again and they turn shades of green.
Chicks got to range today. One of the EE "pullets" has bright yellow legs...and is black n white (usually males from what I've seen?) But has a bit of brown/red on wings.
Is this an EE? I was expecting greenish legs and more chipmunk looking :/if it is an EE are the likely hood of getting a...
Lol she is! She scoots and makes a soft chooking sound. Neck bobbles and everything. I'm so in awe lol I wasn't getting eggs from her since molting so o don't mind waiting longer if she broods well! Makes me wanna go get her a few more :gig ill leave her with her 3 adopters tho. Lol
EE hen did great. Brought them a plate of scrambled eggs and garlic with some fresh oregano sauteed in :gig while I snarf down a a few bites on my way out to them I grab a banana from our ripe pile for them (shoot we were having cereal and the house smells amazing :lau )
All were alive! I was...
So i am at work lol til late late and been on pins and needles. Called hubby and he went in a peeked and said chicks are good, she's made a big old nest outta the bedding and chicks are running around. Yay!
Lol don't we all wish we could skip that part lol I have to go to work in a few...and Lock up that room when I go :/ I'm nervous. She's got food n water. I have a lid for the brooder and it a huge brooder, I'd hate myself if I came home to dead chicks.
But they all look happy. Ug. Wish I could...
She's going on her 4th year so that makes sense :)
Think its safe to leave her with them? She's treading soft, cooing and letting them climb all over.
But she's never even seen a roo let alone raise chicks. She does tolerate the free range meaties but honestly they grow so fast they're as big...
Found my EE hen in the brooder this morning with the tractor supply chicks. She snuck in while doing chores and seems quite content lol I dunno if she's gonna finally lay again after molting or if she's going broody. EEs don't usually go broody right? She better be laying! Lol
So I went to tractor supply, saw large fowl pullet chicks. Grabbed two rir and 4 of these adorably striped chicks. Running vote says they are EEs, what do y'all think? Did I get lucky and get 4 lil EEs or is there a similar looking chipmunk chick a feed store would sell? Their "special" chick of...
