I would recommend figuring out which color of araucana you like best and then getting birds in that color. Try not to get a mix of various colors. If you get them all in the same color family ( Golden Duckwing, Silver Duckwing, black, white, blue, splash etc) you will have an easier time...
Where to get araucana depends on where you live and if there are breeders locally. I recommend joining the Araucana Club of America and start connecting with people that live somewhat close to you. You can only get Araucana from breeders.
Some breeders do ship birds.

Hardly anyone uses the classified section anymore. The birds for sale are usually word of mouth through members.
If you just signed up for membership, I will be sending you out a membership list.

You should join the Araucana Club of America. We have several breeders that breed black who are members. I know two members, maybe 3 had tufted roosters for sale in January. In fact at the Modesto Poultry show one of the exhibitors had a black tufted large fowl for sale. That rooster may...
I like the younger rooster better. His skin color is better. The older rooster has white skin which is not an araucana trait. I would use the younger rooster and remember that the hens will be black or blue most likely. Its the cockerels you need to keep a close eye on. Look for the...
He is what is called a crow wing bird. Note the lack of color at the bottom of his wings. Some would call that birchen, but birchen is actually the silver color of this allele. Brown Red is the red color of this allele. I don't think there is a name for the gold color which he is. I would...
Here are a few of my birds. The pictures were taken at the poultry show in Modesto California last month. I entered 7 Large Fowl Golden Duckwing there were also 3 Black araucana exhibited by others in the AOSB class in the show. For the bantam exhibited in the AOCCL class, there were 6 blacks...

Hi Kris,
If you are on facebook, look for the araucana page. There are many of us breeders there. There are not very many working on the BBR Wheatens. I think myself and Ann Charles are the only two. Ann has sold a few hens and pullets to people who are hoping to start breeding wheatens...
Well as a fellow breeder of BBR wheaten color araucana, I must say, yours have the nicest color of any I have seen in a long time. My only advice is to breed for the willow leg color like the hen on the left. But other than that you are doing great.

This is actually a very good article and makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately the practice is not used much but I have been using the general idea for about 3 years now since reading the article.

They are roosters. A couple of things that tell me that from the photos. Their faces are very red for 15 weeks old. Pullets do not usually get red in the face until they are close to point of lay, which is about 5 to 6 months. Also they have a few of the curving tail feathers that hens do...
Her tufts are fine for show, however her color is not an approved color so she would need to be sold under AOV All Other Varieties. If it is an APA show you still may get dinged because her color is not true to any approved color for any breed. But I say go for it.

Here is her site. Just click on the picture you like to see details about sizes and prices.
