Bad hatch rate. Only 3 piped. And the ones that did pip all the way, looks like weak vitality. I'd say a fail.

Candled eggs tonight. Looks like only 11 eggs are developing ok. I'm thinking probably only 7-8 are going to hatch successfully.

So, according to Edd Sheppard, he states that even clean face parents can pass off tuffs to their offspring. I wonder how many people who breed this breed can attest to that?

Some parents may lay greenish blue eggs, and then the babies may lay solid blue eggs. Funny how genetics work in weird ways.

Who is hatching? 🙈 I have hatch fever. Incubator is out. Bummed it's not Araucanas. We'll see if I have any luck this year finding some local Araucanas. RN, I'm incubating Ameraucanas. So far, 10/10 is developing. Will know in 2 weeks what the hatch rate is.

Thanks for the offer, but at this point I'm looking more for quality than quantity. It's normal for me to pay $15 - $30ish +/per unsexed chick for my desired breeds. Like I always say, costs the same to raise a common breed versus a rare breed. Takes the same amount of time to grow them out...

The top hat aka crest are usually from Creamlegbar genes. Many OE or EE crosses are done with CLB parent with another breed. Ex: CLB x Welsummer. Love the rumpless bunch.

No, he calls his black AR "hybrids" because they are not his original breeding stock from when he started. He acquired his blacks from someone else and for some reason refers them as "Hybrid show strain". They are not EE in that sense, but because they are not from his original landrace...
