UPDATE!: 5 chicks hatched out of 23 so far! Four of them hatched last night. I woke up this morning and was like "That sounds like more than one chick!". I could hear all the peeping from my closet when I was laying down. I checked earlier this morning around 2am and there was two hatched, so...

Quote: I'll post pics once I'm able to take them after my camera is charged. For a day I forgot what day I put them in the incubator. Thanks to a friend of mine for remembering what day I told them I started the eggs, haha! I wrote down on one of my calendars when I started them, and when to...

Mrs. Feathers : The third basically threw itself out of the shell and is busy visiting all the unhatched. CUTE! Update: Today is day 21 for me. I haven't heard any peeping, but I did see two of my Australorp chicks moving around in their eggs. Funny enough, the two that I saw moving are the...

Update on my eggs! Haha, I skipped a week when I counted so my eggs are due to hatch around the 14th instead of the 8th. It's day 3 for me today. I candled some of them and can't see any veins yet, just a black blob, so I'm praying that's something.

Quote: The temperature dropped for me from 100 down to like 75 when I took the lid off the incubator, and then once I put it back on it rose back to 100. Not sure how long it took, but it stabilized itself back in gear.

It's day 2 for me. The eggs have been in the incubator for a day and a half. I went to candle, and they're still all clear...for now. I will check a different egg each day to see how things are progressing. I threw in three more eggs yesterday for the heck of it, haha! So now I have 24 total...

Thanks. 1) What about water? Last night I filled the trough up with water, and this morning when the temperature dropped the trough was half full. So do you think the temp dropped because of the lack of water or because the temp in my room changed? 2) I have a heater that I set to a certain...

Quote: Thanks, and you're welcome! As for my incubator, is it okay if it's in light, just not direct sunlight?

I just put 21 eggs from my hens in my incubator this morning (I might throw in a few more that I collect throughout the day today). This is my very first time using an incubator. I bought a still air Hova-Bator model 1602. Normally I would let my pullets/hens sit on them, but only one of my hens...
