Here are my 3 girls who are now 11 1/2 wks old. Below is the one with the largest comb, Wanda. This one is Harriet with the middle-sized comb. The one in front, with the smallest comb is Elda. They're pretty much exactly the same, except Elda, on the right, is the smallest and Harriet...

I'll have to do some research next spring. I'm only allowed to have 5-7 total with our lot size. I'd probably only do 2 more because it would overcrowd with more. I love Buff Orpingtons so they've been my plan until seeing the blues!

I agree about the progression! I like to see it too. I'll take some pics of my girls this afternoon so you can see for comparison. There was some debate about their gender a few weeks back due to feathering. My first time with Australorps as well. I just love them!

My girls are 11 weeks old now and they look exactly like your chick 3. No wattles and tiny comb. I love your blue color - they're so pretty! I wonder how hard it would be to find them in the US. I've never heard of them until BYC.

They were from our local Ace Hardware. Nobody had BA's around here so I convinced them to add the breed to their order. Supposedly a pre-sexed run from a hatchery. They had 6 breeds of 25 each. I really hope Harriet is slow developing and that's all! They were two days old when I got them.

Well phooey! I did originally say I only wanted 2 hens to start with but I'm attached to all three! Guess I better start thinking about what to do with Harry. City ordinance allows us to keep cockerels until 12 weeks of age so I've got two more months for him to change his mind or me to find...

Thanks Cactus! Here's some better pictures of the girls. The one I'm thinking might be a cockerel is "Harriet" with the speckled head. She doesn't have near the head and neck feathering, holds her tail down more than the other two (is that a thing?) and always stands a lot taller and...

First BA's for me. I adore them and they're freakishly clean and very friendly. Maybe due to my helicopter parenting from the start?? Any weigh-ins on gender due to feathering? Their combs don't look pink at all and no wattles yet. Their hatch date was March 28. We just love them and named...
