Australorps breed Thread

We do have them here. I have a Blue Australorp rooster, and some Blue Australorp hens. I also have the Splash colored ones, and the Black ones. Mine are the breeder's type though, not the hatchery ones.
I'll have to do some research next spring. I'm only allowed to have 5-7 total with our lot size. I'd probably only do 2 more because it would overcrowd with more. I love Buff Orpingtons so they've been my plan until seeing the blues!

Yes, please post picture, especially when you see a change

Here are my 3 girls who are now 11 1/2 wks old.

The one in front, with the smallest comb is Elda.

They're pretty much exactly the same, except Elda, on the right, is the smallest and Harriet, on the left, is the biggest.

So does everyone agree they're all girls or are there differing opinions??

They are very much hens(pullets until one year old and then hens)!

You will have lots of eggs soon

I have a couple of Black pullets I got this year. I handled them while they were small chicks but they don't want to be handled now their about 12 weeks old and when I try to handle them they sound like.they scream bloody murder. I cover their eyes for a second and they calm right down but don't seem to like being handled.Any one else have this problem with theirs if so is there anything I can do to calm them down more.

They look like girls to me - compared to mine at least!
So excited for them to start laying for you!
