Betty, or as she has earned this past week, "Betty the Brave". She has gained a lot of confidence and does not shy away from the bigger chicks, and they don't mind her either. I even watched her steal away a worm from the big chicks and hold her own. Yum! 4 weeks:

Betty at 3 weeks old today. She is such a lover. We really enjoy having her be a part of our little flock of chicks. She is sweet, smart, and friendly.

Little Betty is 2 weeks old now... She is seriously the sweetest. Between her and my Light Brahma chick, we always have one who we know welcomes a snuggle. She usually relaxes down into my hand, but right before these pics I had thrown down some meal worms, so she was anxious to go scratch...

I didn't know they are called angel wings.... learn something new every day.

It really is! Its exhausting, hence all the 'passed out drunk' sleeping.

Betty is just the sweetest. I can tell she has grown a lot, but comparing this pic to her day old pic, she still seems so small! Are Aussies on the slower side for maturing? 1 week old here: (taken today) And when we got her home at 3 days old....

Meet Betty! She is seriously the CUTEST! We only got her yesterday (the store only had broilers because their shipments were late), brought her home immediately, introduced her to the 3 others, and she fit right in! It couldn't have gone smoother. She actually would crawl up...

Hahaha! I think specifically they are an assortment of cochins, brahmas, d'uccles, and silkies. We had a Partridge Cochin Bantam before that didn't make it.

Good point... but if you had to choose another breed also, any suggestions?

I CANNOT wait... I get my Black Australorp chickie tomorrow!!! I called today, and she is scheduled to arrive tomorrow... I already have one Easter Egger, one Golden Sex Link, and one Light Brahma in her little batch. I would like to grab another one or two chicks with her. Anyone have any...

Thank you! I read through it and while it is encouraging, it also is sobering that my attempts might fail. I have her rigged in a brace currently and separated so she can't be picked on.

Hey ya'll... I know its not specifically about Australorps, but one of my current chickies (who will be a flock-mate to my Aussie) is NOT doing well... we are desperate for help... so if any of ya'll have experience or advice, and time, I posted about her here...

Aussie chicks are so stinkin cute, all fashioned with their little chickie diapers on. Love those fuzzy white butts.

I read that this morning.... but laughed because it seems like an April Fools thing. I don't believe anything I read on the internet on April 1st anymore.
