Thanks for all the helpful info I know genetics could go back pretty far. I usually get nice white crested babies too with HUGE "poofs". In my opinion, I like the mixed colors better sometimes, they are nicer to look at
Lol... I didn't want this to go on too long, someone was going to see the eggs I have on auction, and the parents are listed there. I didn't want anyone to cheat
They are adorable! I see the resemblance. The bill on yours is fully black, mine is 2 toned and so is Cocoa's feet. The 2 females I have were from Metzer Farms, so they should be Pure. I got the daddy from a breeder that said his daddy was crested and his mommy was not but came from crested...
So maybe... all the little black ducklings could be either Cayuga or Black Swedish? Why would it have taken so long for the chocolate color to come out? I've hatched out sooo many ducklings and have shipped soooo many eggs. Until now... only 3 like that have popped up. He/she is the sweetest...

Hmmmm... interesting.. The black ducklings that usually hatch, have the white bib. Is black dominant ? All of the Cayuga's eggs that hatch are black, never one like the daddy.
Nope on all...
Ok... here goes...
His/Her mommy is a Pure Cayuga
His/Her daddy is a Non Crested white (Pekin) but carries crested genes..
Out of maybe 75 ducklings that I've hatched, I only got one like this.. its definately a chocolate color, but can someone explain how this may have come...
