very interesting.
I plan to breed a clean legged BCM to my EE's in hopes of some good OE's. Ha! We're so funny w/ all our acronyms. One needs a course to understand/communicate.
Debbi-so sorry for your hatching probs. Ugh
I do believe NONE of the shipped eggs I set will hatch. Bad luck of the draw?
The two stuck zippers are in a brooder by themselves and I know one will have to be culled because of a deformed foot and the other if it doesn't get better balance. See, I...

Don't beat yourself self up about it...for future, when removing chicks you can simply put a steaming sponge in and it raises the humidity right up.
cherylcohen Thanx for the sponge tip. The two I rescued are up, moving around and piping loudly. Now, a new delimma should i save the...
I also intervened. I had two that were halfway zipped with leg sticking out for 48 hrs! I rationed that it was probably my fault and they were going to die anyway-if they don't make it. Unfortunately, I have 2-3 more eggs that have started to zipp. I hope they can pull it off. I hate this! I...
My 3yo son is holding the chick... she does look huge.
Soooo, when will I be able to tell the sex of the chicks?
Thanx for the props everyone! I'm so excited about my chicks.
Keara- glad the situation is turning out
Good morning everyone! Happy times in my house hold. 11 BCM's have hatched so far. 10 are in the brooder (fish tank) and are such a joy to watch. We had my kids counsins (6 & 3)over yesterday to see the chicks and they were so thrilled. They are not really city kids, but have not had "hands-on"...
Debbi-glad you are getting some action. I have 11 chicks and 3 zipping so far.
Everyone is enjoying the hatching.
Happy Holidays to you. (But, I'm sure I'll be checking back in before Christmas)

CONGRATS!! Now, have your chicks call my chicks to tell them how to do it!
Well, a phone conversation will be safer, for I have some aggressive little buggers. When someone zips enough to bare enough body they are under attack. And once they are out the others are pecking at...
Good morning all.I dreamed about ALL my eggs hatching. (I could hear peeping while I slept in the other room) I woke up and found chick #2. Hopefully everyone else will decide today is a good day to come on out.

Assuming chicken is dead already
Start under a wing and cut a slit from under the wing up to the neck and
down to the goin area ( these are Dh directions )
Then you should be able to PEEL the carcass out of its skin.. . .
When you get to the neck, wing joint, and knee caps you...
Mathace "DON'T feather pluck - - - skin them, just like you would any other animal.. . . ."
any skinning instruction would be appeciated. I really have some aversions to plucking.

Debbi-this is also day 19 for me. I heard pipping at 8:30 tonight and was able to get them to pip for my daughter about an hour later, but now nothing! I just need to go to bed and not worry.

Sorry. That's frustrating. I've had to buy eggs for the last 2 months WT? I've spent more $ feeding and not getting anything than buying eggs. Oh well, I'll be patient a little longer.
Funny, I was going to PM you and ask if you had hatching eggs for sale, for my dh will be going to...
Debbi
Thanx. I'm going to the store this AM and will make it this afternoon. How 'bout using nutella as the filler?
Mixing some breakfast for the chooks w/ "left over" oatmeal (amazing how there is always more than what the kids can eat ) I add sorghum (we make our own so we have extra to...
Good morning
I would love a recipe for the potatoe candy. I bet my husband has never heard of or has had such a culinary delight.
Up late for the second night in the row preparing for Christmas and trying to have a very clean organized house for the New Years (I'm "challenged" in this area).
I...
