I have a better way than plucking or skinning....We have a local woman who does the deed for $2.65 a bird. They come home in a plastic bag! That is the best way to do it

DON'T feather pluck - - - skin them, just like you would any other animal.. . . .

We have a friend who showed us how he harvests and he skins them - -- no feather plucking and no scalding water.

I skin and debone and grind the meat. I am a softy with the birds, and surely do not want to know who I am eating (Also our family does not like chicken meat very much)... SO grinding works great, use the meat like you would ground beef or ground turkey...

Yeah see that's why enchiladas work good too. You just boil down a bunch of parts from different birds..like all thighs and drumsticks with a bunch of garlic, onions, spices, red chilies and then shred up the meat. You will never know who's who. One of my sons is really wierd about not wanting to eat stuff from our animals. Even eggs...he was fine eating them from the store but now he won't eat them ...now that they are fresh from the hen's you know where LOL! I hope he gets over it.

SOme of these youngsters do not understand! My 7 month old roo just this week suddenly decides to come at me 2 different days when I am feeding them in at 7am??? I am 6'1" and weigh 240 lbs. and this BCM hormonally challenged youngster thinks he is going to attack me....I did not have a cane, but a plastic feed scoop can accomplish quite a plane ride.

I agree with you Debbi...what is with these juvenile males??? They seems so nice and suddenly, WHAM!

On a good note my BCm hens are still laying. They did slow down when daylight got shorter, but still manage to give me some of those dark eggs.
