I guess they really are Self Blue - but since most peeps don't know what that means, I'm choosing to call them Lavenders. I'm really impressed with the feather quality so far. Can't wait to see them grown!
Is there anyone else on this thread that as lavender marans as well, I'd love to compare notes.

THANKS, I'm actually removing most of the gravel, it's nice soft sand/dirt underneath. i vote for a sand/dirt/DE mixture in your runs, they need to be able to dust themselves.
Ah thanks for missing me! Yes the house is all brand new remodeled after the city flooded it with sewage. We were out for 6 months but it's gorgeous now! and on their dime....

I've built new breeding pens and have a couple of empty pens... Oh dear my chicken karma tells me to fill 'em up!!
I'm drawn to golden cuckoo marans or blue coppers. Can someone on this thread direct me to the best stock?
Well it's been a crazy year so far, with having our house flooded with sewage and being told by the city that I can't have roosters. Those are just a few highlights of my very fun life!
At any rate, I've found a wonderful local ranch where I can do my breeding and I have 3 wheaten marans...
