Isn't he a good boy... that is exactly the dog i want... can't wait til we move, get re-settled and I'm gitten me an aussie mix puppy. I'm enjoying catching up on the threads... I'm in New England and my flock is absolutely veggie starved right now... I have resorted to buying bags of frozen...
Did anyone give you some help with these... I still have trouble sexing... I will stare and stare for weeks... I don't quite have to wait out to see who is crowing but sometimes it sure feels that way. What has been confusing for me is the ratio of boys to girls... I always get so many more...
Oh dear... seems to be hard to reference an older thread... I was reffing to a previous conversation on golden cuckoos where this site was recommended

Thank you... really quite helpful. Unfortunately I prefer the look of the really lightly colored goldens... I saw some fantastic birds on that australian site but the coloring on the goldens was very disappointing for me. My goldens are also very small so I have a lot to work on... but the...
I will also add that head spotting on my goldens is minimal... not really the best indicator... it is really the over all body color that makes an easy comparison when you know you have all goldens. Sounds like there are underlying genes that might make this a bit different for other peoples...
sorry... I was referring to Brooster Springsteen's post on the mixed hatch of marans chicks... I have golden cuckoo marans. The first hatch I had was such a delightful surprise...they are an autosexing color and the females are just the prettiest chesnut brown. The males are a completely...

I am two years into my "chicken project" and have yet to see a broody hen... all I can say is I am totally excited at the idea of a hen clucking about the yard with little chicks behind her... I will be grinning from ear to ear! I even took in a banty in hopes of a little broodiness around...
yes... right now I have it so they can always get under cover with bushes and shrubs... even planted clusters of rhododendrons for them.... which I do think helps because I actually only lost two chickens to the hawks last year... both lemon cuckoo orpingtons... I figured they were just too...
another request for opinions... there are some golden cuckoo pictures on ebay right now that caught my eye... I can't add any new birds right now so I am not going to bid on the eggs but I was admiring these particular birds and thinking if I were looking to add more right now I would grab...
all your critique remarks make absolute sense once pointed out... thank you... and he does look RIRish in color to me as well... I appreciate your responding... every little bit helps.
yes, the owls are problematic. Mating season is soon and then they will be rearing a brood and more...
As I am new, could you please share with me what would make this fellow a cull?...
Oh, and I have a pair of owls hanging around my chicken pen as well... Barred owls. They are beautiful to look at. Hubby swears our little odd ball easter egger roo likes to try and imitate the owl calls...
I did find this...

but it would still be nice to see pictures of what is...
You will have to enlighten me as to what a squirrel tail is... I apologize if you have done this a hundred times already but do you have a good picture of the kind of tail desired? I never noticed the gold in my birch roos feathering! Chicken genetics are very complicated and overwhelming... I...
