I'll ask my dad to get a picture of the wing for you.
The cockerel who won the show is getting old and his fertility is low, so this coming year(2015) I'm going to hatch a load of chicks from him and two hens. The hens the old cockerel will be breeding with would be aunts to the two cockerels...
The hen below is looking like a good enough hen, She will be used for breeding in 2016.What are your thoughts on her?
The cockerels above and below are brothers to the hens in the first and fourth picture. Which cockerel do you think looks best?
I like the one below because he is darker in...

Thanks, I put the chicks back with their mum yesterday. I'm pleased with the result, we got 6 chicks out of 8 eggs.
I was wondering what do you guys think of my young cockerel?
Ill see if I can get some better pictures of him.
The game cockerel had a single comb, From the first three chicks i hatched we have one single comb and two pea combs. From this hatch now we have five chicks so far and i can hear one more in a egg. We have four single comb chicks and one pea comb chick.

I must have got my dates wrong for the Sumatra x game eggs. This morning I went out and let out all of the chicken and then I came back up to the coop where I have my broody Sumatra hen. So I went to lift her of the nest and I heard chirping. We have one little chick and one more is pipping, so...
The chicks are doing very well! Do you guys remember the chicks I hatched in April? They were Sussex, they are quite big now, I'm pleased with their progress. The chicks a hen hatched on the 9th of July are growing well but not as good as my most recent hatch.

It had straw in it from when we took some birds to a show last weekend, so i had to clean it out and take off the make shift roof.

I've put some peat in the brooder for the chicks to sleep on, because we have no shavings left...

There is always something to do when you have chicken, talking of things to do i need to go and sort out the brooder!
They is still a couple of Pekin eggs in their, I'm going to leave them in for a day or two more. That bantam Sumatra who went broody the other day is now sitting tight, so might move her into the broody coop tonight. She is covering 8 eggs so ill leave them all under her.
The black chick in the top photo is a game cross Sumatra and the other chick is a leghorn. I'm hoping it is a light brown leghorn but only time will tell.
17 out of 30 eggs have hatched, unfortunately a leghorn and a Rhode island red got stuck and died in the shell. I could have tried harder to...
There is no worries with wild fires here, i woke up at 4am because of the rain last night. I don't know if its because of the bad weather or not, but this morning i had a crow in one coop and finch in another coop.
Just so i know, should i increase the humidity and stop turning the eggs in...
