I wondered, where Oak Run was. I think there is a guy in the Grass Valley area who raises large fowl araucanas.
I am going to visit a friend of mine in Brentwood this weekend who has Araucana also. We trade birds back and forth. I am taking a nice double tufted blue girl to him to go with...
For showing you want bi-laterily tufted, rumpless. Anything else wont even get you looked at is my understanding. On the Araucana club site they have the standard of perfection with pics.

His comb is big, so I wouldn't show him but you can breed him to a hen with a really nice small comb and get good results. That is what I did with two of my boys who had big combs. So far only 1 of the chicks inherited the comb and he was a cull.

Thats her. She kinda looks at you like she wants to talk. When she was a baby and the others would run away scared, she would jump on my back and look around, sometimes peck at my hair but usually just settle in for a nap or visit.

It looked like the lady had a nice roo, or is that the one you posted pics of?
How is the tailed girl doing. She is just the nicest bird. And I love the yellow on her.

Hi Beth,
My brain is mush cause I didn't even realize it was you. I am so happy they are settling in. Did you buy the birds that were up for auction a couple of weeks ago. I know they were close to where you are.

With the black you don't want any gold leakage if you are going to show. I personally like both the red and the gold leakage. I have a double tufted roo that is starting to get red shoulders. I am sooo happy.

You will likely get mostly duckwing chicks with those three. I have a blue hen with brown leakage like yours and she throws duckwings and blues. I really like your rooster.
