I brought him a copy of "Raising Chickens for Dummies" and also gave him all my info and info about reaching us at BYC. I personally felt strongly that he should only keep hens to help ensure it doesn't happen again, but he's really attached to some of those roos. Hopefully with fewer birds...
Ya, I think he was collecting eggs, but the chickens were going broody left and right, in and outside of the house.
Regarding Animal Place: Honestly, I don't even think they were called until a few days, maybe weeks after I had left. We were trying to find homes for all his birds on BYC...
Ok, just got back from a night out with my wife and finally got to see the episode.
SilverPhoenix, I was VERY VERY surprised with how it was edited and am also bothered that Animal Place didn't get proper screen time or promotion. Your organization really did the heavy lifting and continues...
I'm pretty nervous not knowing how it will turn out. I may not even be on for more than 2 seconds.
Let me know how it turns out as you watch it! We still have 3 hours to go!!!
Watch the A&E episode first, the one with the lady in her trailer home and all her chickens crammed in plastic totes with dead ones buried under a pile of manure and feed... after that, this one from Animal Planet will seem like a breath of fresh air.
Just a couple days away!
You can see a video of Peter and his chickens by going to the site here: http://animal.discovery.com/tv/confessions-animal-hoarding/
Right under the video you'll see "Next: Animal Hoarding: Peter »"
Click that and you'll see his video.

Lots of people who make comments without having experience or knowledge about what they are talking about.
If there is one thing that I've learned as BYC has grown... the more exposure you get, the more criticism comes with it. Be prepared for some really nice notes once you're on that show, but also a ton of other comments that may not be so friendly. Unfortunately the nature of the beast of...
We watched the whole episode with "Hannah" and the guy with the bunnies. It really was very sad. Both of those people have a disease and it is terrible to see how it affects those around them (people and animals).
Lots of discussion about the woman with the birds in really bad shape, but...
I had a lot of exchanges with them before they went out to his place. Peter, understandably, didn't want any of his pets to become food, and I tried to convey to the Animal Planet peeps how difficult it would be to find homes for chickens that were a combination of mixed breeds, older, and/or...
I participated in this Animal Planet show. Peter (the man with the chickens) is a super nice guy out in the Sacramento area who had a TON of chickens inside and outside his house. He loved / loves his birds, but just got in a situation where he become overwhelmed caring for them. While the...
