Hey folks! I know y'all are going to think I'm off my rocker, but I've got some chickens to get rid of. 2 of them are Rhode Island Red roosters that are about 28 wks old. They are not mean yet or anything, I just don't need them. I will also be having several hens that are not laying anymore...

Thinking I need some guineas...Came in from outside after just 2 hours of sitting in a chair watching the kids play and had 2 ticks crawling on me! I already have 35 free ranging chickens, but live in the middle of nothing but cedar trees everywhere! Ticks out here are crazy!! Can't even go...

For a still air incubator the temp needs to be around 102*F and for one w/ a fan its 99.5*F. 60% humidity is not good! I keep mine around 25% up until lockdown at day 18, then boost it up to 60%ish. You can candle up to lockdown as needed :) Enjoy your hatch!

So, can you keep guineas and chickens together free- ranging and cooped or no?

I have some pool noodles around my yard, no pool though- go figure. Anyway, my chickens got to them and ate them nearly up before anyone noticed. Its been a few days and nobody has been sick or died thank goodness! I was scared though. I also am using the Styrofoam cartons for hatching :)

This is crazy, but the more I look at them, the more I want a blue laced red Wyandotte!! Wish I could afford a good quality pullet :/ IMO they are the most beautiful birds.

Gonna try this hatching thing....again. I've got 27 eggs in the incubator. Hatch day is scheduled for April 26th. Lets hope this all goes well this time. I now have a hygrometer and new digital thermometer. I really want some baby chicks. My son got his 4H chicks last week and they are so cute...

Today was supposed to be hatch day for me, but ....nothing! No chirping, no cheeping, no pecking, just a lot of eggs rocking around, that's it. Why must they make me wait? This is my first time and its driving me insane.

I've always wanted australorps! My mom and dad live in Loretto and its where I am from! I live in M'boro now though. How long will you hold them? I will be there Saturday or my parents are coming here this Thursday and could bring them to me. My dad is Kenneth Flatt, do you know him?
