Here's some pics I wanted to share of some birds that I'd posted as chicks...
My head roo Boa he's the best all around - feeds the ladies, nonaggressive, etc
Butterfinger the roo chick in question with the orange down, runs with the layer flock, beautiful vivid colors!
Look closely there...
Figures! I would have tried to hatch them too! My 12 year old daughter and I swooned over our first Legbar egg, calling it our first baby Legbar & talking to it, until we tried to incubate it and discovered it to not be fertile. None of our Legbar hen's first eggs are fertile so far. Eggs from...
I got the same thing. Meaning I got these same eggs off of Ebay and only had one hatch, the chick had the distinct coloring of a female exept that the down was quite red. Then as the chick grew it became evident that it was a male and he now looks just like your rooster, he just has more red and...
Hi, my oldest Cream Legbar hen just layed her first egg at exactly 19 weeks old yesterday! It's a pretty lil' blue thing that I wish I could post a pic of but my camera is not loading propoerly.
I have a question for anyone concerning Cream Legbar crosses- I am hatching some crosses just because none of my Legbar hens are laying yet & I like to hatch. So far it is just Legbar / BCM and the chicks are hatching out black like a Marans but with a white dot on the head. Does the white dot...
Yeah it's too bad not everyone is honest when this is supposed to be a fun thing. We hear the coyotes yipping down across the road, but so far not too close. At my parents 30 miles from here they actually saw a coyote take a deer down in their backyard. They have even seen mountain lions now on...
That's a good idea, I already have BCM! Actually I want to get some birchen Marans too, but that is besides the point. We had a beautiful sunny day for once and I went to spend some time watching them and he was missing. I searched & searched and figured somehow he must of squeezed through the...
I agree, since he wasn't sexable at hatching then he doesn't have a place in the Legbar pen. I truly thought it was a girl, until recently, because of the markings at hatch. Even the white ones are sexable. Anyhow he'll have a place with the EEs, he was out of a blue egg and I love blue eggs...
Well I just went & looked up the ad, and in the farms newer ads there shows pics of their young birds & my bird in question looks like their young ones. It is just a much darker grey than my rooster; but the bird's down as a hatchling is still odd, and I never saw a head spot. Just for this...
Wow thank you for all the responses so soon! Yes the 2 month old is the same bird as the red colored chick, I was just showing him at two different ages. He had chipmunk striping on orange down as a hatchling, so I thought it was a she, and then started feathering in barred like a male. I do not...
Is this a Cream Legbar? She was the only one to hatch from some Ebay eggs, is now 2 months old (top pic), and I suspect impurity. She hatched with the pattern & coloring of a female Cream Legbar, except for a little bit of an orange hue. I also have a pic from when she was a week or so old. She...
Here's a new batch of Cream Legbars hatched from TX Ebay eggs- 6 girls & 2 boys! They are a few weeks old & I see that the 2 boys are feathering in a little bit differently, one is a spotty white & blackish & the other one is more brown.
We need some heat here too. I got my Legbar pair outside in their pen for the first time & it's been cold & rainy. Here's a pic of them with their good friend, a crested SFH. It was windy & chilly & they are all puffed up on the perch. They also have 2 BCM hens and a RR hen for company & warmth...
Are you kidding? I would buy them just because they are related to the white ones. Girls or boys, well more girls than boys, but either one or both. PM me if you are willing to ship. Or maybe I could find a reason to go to MD.
That's awesome, I wondered how long it took them to lay an egg- Happy Easter! I told my kids that by next year at this time we will definately have our own eggs!
Here are some pics of my new Cream Legbar crew at a few days old and my few weeks old pair, in the 2nd pic the little ones are trying to hide under the roo! I think I have 5 girls & 3 boys in all if the yellow is a girl.
