2 eggs incubated, 2 fuzzybutts safely out!
I have since removed the polystyrene tunnel, seemed a good idea at the time but they kept pecking bits off.
Putting hay in the bottom of the brooder has also significantly reduced pecking.
So happy!
How long should it take for the chick to get dry? He's kicking the other pipped egg around quite a bit and there was already a speck of blood on it, worried it'll get pecked at.
The first one to pip has unzipped most of the egg now, and if he/she really tried I think he could push through the gap, but instead is being a lazy so n so ignoring my pleads to come out and say hi!
The egg is on its side with the pointy end mostly downwards. Its a couple of cms of so from the small end of the egg. I don't think there's much I can do at this stage without risking the integrity of the other chick. Just hope the lil fella has enough room to maneuver.
Came downstairs this morning to discover the 2nd chick has pipped! It has pipped towards the smaller end of the egg- is this going to be a problem?
Have been turning every day so he/she shouldn't be upside down
Oh my goodness just checked on the incubator and heard a peeping! Looked closer and he's cracked through the egg! Only day 19! Cmon lil fella! 1 chick outta 2 so far!

Awesome congrats
My bator is so quiet... My babies are on lockdown and I keep waiting for the little peep peep or tap tap. Day 18 *sigh* I keep telling myself just a few more days. But its so hard
I keep listening hard, and getting excited when I think I hear a peep. Then get...

I'm over the pond in the UK, it went up to 39 celsius (102.2F)
DIY therm, small microchip receives voltage reading from an NTC thermistor and switches on and off heat circuit accordingly. Been perfect up until now
Spending the night down here with them now!
I just got ready for lockdown, removed turner, and added a kitchen towel for grip, came back to it an hour later and the temperature had risen considerably to the norm
Had risen to 39 tops, so disheartened
Just candled again (3 days since the last time I candled) and can no longer see inside either eggs!
Must be coming along nicely! Bought the rest of the stuff needed for the brooder, will get that up and running soonish
They went in on 4th, so they are due to come out 25th if I'm right? Or does day 1 commence 24 hours after setting in incubator?
Incubator is self made, controlled by computer.
Only set 2 eggs because I haven't got the room for many more.
1st egg appears more lively than the second (watch in 720p)
