Thanks - I agree from that picture. But the color (as seen in previous pics) and comb profile is just throwing me off. I'll update when we know either way.
Here is a picture a couple days ago next to a known male:
It is starting to look like a splash, so I don't know if plumage coloring is helpful. Mom was pure blue ameraucana, dad was blue copper marans. The comb definitely isn't 3 rows, but it seems to be a hybrid pea comb so I don't know if...
Here's my baby again, at 7 weeks now. The comb is more flushed because I'm holding it, but I am leaning towards boy :( that will be one pullet out of my hatch of 8.
My broody hatched out some chicks, and I have one in particular that I'm really hoping is a girl - but I'm not so sure is. Mom is a blue ameraucana, dad is a blue copper marans. They are 4 weeks old.
Are you sure about their age? They look a little younger than that. 1 is probably a pullet but it's a little hard to tell from the pictures. 2 is a pullet, 3 I believe is a cockerel.
Chickhum, do you have any more pictures, particularly comb shots of Arizona? I've been looking closer and now I'm not so sure. Very interesting bird either way.
Mavabird, at this point they all look like pullets to me. I don't see enough comb or red on any of them to make me think cockerel. I'd be interested in an update in a few weeks.
I have an update on my orange and white chick. At this point I'm guessing pullet despite the red patches, it seems like it's in the process of coming in as an overall pattern. The comb is sort of wide, but flat and undeveloped. Interested in what you all think.
Edit: forgot to mention, they...
