My Tina Turner is pretty bold and funny. Probably lower middle of the pecking order. Easy to catch and play with. I think i have a Candy Corn Polish and a white crested black.

Any luck? I was a very bad girl today. Got 2 polish chicks to skip under my co-broodies. Daughter loves the one we have. I can't figure out the color of one. Gold laced something maybe... So cute! I'm crossing my fingers that it works out.

I have an Easter egger and an Andalusian who have been co-brooding. Babies are set to hatch Sunday or so. I keep going back and forth between separating the eggs into 2 clutches and moving one girl into another cage and letting them co-parent.

@Al Capon, you might post your roos here too in case anyone in the Meeker area is interested or has some ideas about others who would want them.

Hi Okies, I think I'm ready for this storm tonight if the wind doesn't tear up the garden too much. Most things are pretty happy, especially the squash bugs LOL. I sprayed with neem and insecticidal soap yesterday. I'm about to see how effective that was. Here's my garden haul from...

Now my other BLRW is acting broody. Plus 2 of the 4 older girls. My first Wyandotte is about half way done (day 10 or so). The other chicken ate all her eggs, so she has lost her broody privileges for good. Straw bale and container gardens are going well, but the war with the squash bugs and...

I gave my 2 girls a dozen each yesterday. So far, so good. Made eggplant parmesan for dinner. I'm excited to use my own eggplants and tomatoes next time!

Well, mine returned to her kennel and practice eggs after a forced constitutional, so I will let her try. The hardest thing will be convincing my daughter that we don't need to keep ALL of the babies if she and the other one are successful. "Bubie" is adorable. If we were closer, we would...

I remember my first broody experience many years ago. I let her accumulate eggs and then had to put the unhatched ones in an incubator and give them to her at night as they hatched. What breed is the hen? I have 2 girls that are trying right now. I bought eggs for one of them a few weeks...

@NanaKat, I have a BLRW today has decided to go broody. Still determining how serious she is. Are wyandottes generally good mothers?

We got lots of rain Thursday, but it warmed up enough that we could mow yesterday. We have a DR trimmer that my son used for the jungle in the swampy area by my straw bale garden, etc. That thing was a good investment! We've already dispatched a pigmy rattlesnake in my garage this season. No...

Thanks. I know they have killed cats before too. Pretty rare for my chickens to go over there, but obviously possible. Plus they use hot wire to keep their dogs in, so that might have made it harder for my girls to get back home.

Yesterday I spent most off the day inside helping write/type my husband's job application. Locked up my chickens after dark. We noticed this morning that 2 of the girls were dead in the neighbor's yard next door. I thought an owl carried them.over, but they weren't eaten at all. Neighbor and I...

I can't believe all this rain we're getting! It feels like I live in Costa Rica instead of Central Oklahoma. I think we'll have a full jungle by the time we can mow again LOL. I was late getting things planted, so it is really kind of nice except for the muddy eggs and dog feet.....

@NanaKat your herd is beautiful. We’ve been talking about starting a small cow/calf operation. Might have to contact you later about that. We ran our wood burning stove through the extreme cold weather and our electric bill was actually considerably lower than the previous month! I figured...

Glad to have you on the thread and good luck with finding them good homes! Is anyone complaining about them? If you enjoy the boys, maybe you could get them crow collars and bribe your neighbors with eggs.
