I'm sorry I don't have any fluffy butt pics, I'll get some with the next hatch.

No stacking, just in cartons, fat end up, 2 -18 packs and 2 dozen cartons and 1 dozen with a "4 pack" cut out of it. I cut the bottom of the cartons out for air circulation, it works well but I prefer the auto turner. I can't remember how many it holds with eggs on their sides The catalog says...

I've been running my hovabator at 100F as the instructions say (forced air) my last few hatches have been a day late. Should I increase the temp and if so how much?

I've put 64 in my hovabator, in egg cartons with the bottom cut out, then I just tilt the whole incubator side to side 3 times a day to turn the eggs. I put the end of the bator on an egg carton. Problem come with hatching there isn't room in there for chicks once they hatch, they have to walk...

Glad I didn't wipe them off, I had a 77% hatch rate, best rate since last spring! Thank you!

I had a chick hatch early yesterday, it did full absorb the yolk and got gunk all over the other eggs. Some of them are completely covered with blood, and yolk. Should I attempt to wipe some of it off or just leave it? The chick is doing great, go figure.

Well I have 104 in the bator. 60 of them are due on valentines! I wanted to join the hatch along but I don't have the time to follow the thread faithfully. Hopefully I'll have a good hatch. My last was only 20%.

That is what I do. I try to position the sponge where it is easy to get to from the vent, but yep that's what I do. The bottom egg does not look fertile, but it is difficult to see. The top one is fertile

I have always used "dry incubation", I only add water if the humidity goes below 20%. I was having hatch rates at around 80%, however lately my hatch rate has been bad. I suspect a nutrition problem, so I am tackling that, but I am also trying a slight increase in humidity to keep it around...

I use a circulated air for both incubating and hatching. I tried using a still air for hatching and spent a majority of time fighting with the temperature. I have since switched to circulated air for hatching. While I am having problems with my hatch rate I have discovered that if I keep the...

I want to say thank you to every one who gave me advice! I am currently trying to keep my humidity around 35% instead of 25, I set 26 eggs on the first, we'll see what happens.

I keep my humidity on average at 25% for the first 19 days, I only increase the humidity for hatching. However with that being said, when my humidity drops below 20% I do add water. I have a humidity spike up to 50% for a couple of hours when I do. Thank you for the advice, I will see if...

I need a little assistance improving my hatch rate. My fertility is excellent, with my last batch 100% were developing at 7 days, I candled again right before I put them in lockdown out of 21 eggs 6 looked dead, 10 hatched with one more pip (11 I hope), the other 4 that didn't hatch were moving...

I have read in some threads about stacking eggs on the turner, can any one tell me how to do this. I like to put a couple of extra eggs in to make up for any clears but remembering to turn them for the 7 days can be tough.

I had one chick do the same thing. It piped a day after all the others hatched (he almost got thown away). I was in a panic since I had powered down the incubator and opened it to toss the bad eggs. I was candling them just to make sure they were all bad and behold a chick! anyhoo I thought...

I know I'm a glutton for punishment. I got my first shipment of chicks this time last year, you thought I would have learned. On that note I have 3 bantam eggs going into the new hovabator for lock down to check my hatch rate

So, I'm hot and heavy into incubating after taking the summer off. I just candled and I had the best fertility rate EVER! (for my girls) I put 38 in the bator and only had 1 clear I also bought another Genesis to use as a hatcher after fighting with my still air with the last hatch...

My experience on washing eggs taught me allot. While I was practicing my hatching technique I got a hold of some very filthy eggs from a friend. I washed them in a bleach solution, I forgot to rinse them. Not a single one developed at all. My second batch from her was cleaner (after I had...
