I added a fan to a LG still air with the electronic thermostat.
Even with pill bottles filled with water to help stabilize it, the temps were all over the place.
Have an electronic one to replace it with and will be testing it starting today.
If it works, I recommend you do the same, controller...
Hmmm....
Now I am starting to get scared.
No, I am serious.
I am in the process of building a "chicken coop" that so far is going to be 20 foot by 14 big,
but really it is going to be an aviary with a 4 foot by 20 foot closed in section, whole thing roofed over.
I really like Australian grass...
Yes, at 5:30pm had another one hatch and seen a total of three eggs rocking a bit.
Problem is, the little rascal still in there runs around knocking into the eggs!
The three this morning broke one (not a good one, but still!)!
What is it about hatching eggs that is so addictive?
I'd go buy some...
Woke this morning to two button quail cheeping and running around the bator.
Another one hatched an hour later, but no more out of the 30 so far and it has been 6 hours.
Little peepers broke one eggs that was yellow yolk....
I feared a couple of 102+ degree spikes early on killed them, at least...
I fail to see how it can be beneficial to let them sit longer than the time it takes to reach normal temp and
settle down and surely does lower the hatch rate waiting a few days.
To the poster who has 100% fertile shipped eggs, that is GREAT!
Wish I was so lucky...
Tomorrow is lock down day...
Oh, I understand but on the bright side if these are critically endangered chalk this one up to your part in breed preservation!

Hope for a 50% hatch rate, try to buy them as close as you can to your location to keep the shipping times down,
have them shipped on Monday or Tuesday to...
Looks like a nice setup!
I may have to get another controller for my Little Giant because the current controller is clearly bad news.
Funny thing is that I often get swings of less than a degree using a wafer setup.
The only thing that seems to bother a wafer is age or large barometric pressure...

The temp differential differs by model and you can purchase ones that do either 1°F or .1°F, I will be testing
and verifying that on the one I purchased (WH7016F, 110v, 0.1°F delta) because I will have to see to believe
that it is really a tenth of a degree diff capable.
Simple...
FYI for everyone looking for a good electronic thermostat for an incubator, here is the first part
of a series of three YouTube videos showing how to use a single relay Willhi controller (available in °F and 110v):
part 2:
part 3
I am incubating button quail eggs that seem to require higher humidity overall than chicken eggs.
Everyone recommends 50-60% until three days before hatch (16 day total on BQs) then 10-15% higher
and that worked well for me 25 years ago in my homebuilt bator in the dry desert air of Albuquerque...
The button quail eggs I put in the Little Giant with added fan and electronic thermostat may not make it.
In three days of being in the bator the temp was swinging too much!
Twice the temp was at 103°s after spending most of the day on the low side of 99.5° so I
fixed an old wafer foam bator...
In my first post I linked to the unit I was interested in.
All the instructions I see mention this delay function and say it is only used in
cooling and to set the delay to "0" if heating.
Does this not work?
I also see the silver probe mentioned in other sales such as...

The one I linked to is Fahrenheit.

Yet I linked to an Ebay sale in the US of such a style unit, I have on on the way right now.

I never rely on electronic temperature readings without VERIFYING them against a KNOWN thermometer, of which I have many in...
What about this one?

Other spec sheets list this one at 0.1°F control accuracy
Truth be told, I HATE the metric system and find that celsius degrees are too large for my tastes.

No one has built an incubator with built-in thermal mass.
I say build one with a 1/2" layer of cement board and insulation on the outside of THAT!
I do believe many have used that same thermostat as a replacement on incubators....
I'd be tempted to put a bowl of water a foot away from her.
I say keep an eye on her, she is unlikely to move when you are watching....
I have one bator running and some button quail eggs coming in the next couple of days....
Little Giant with the horrible electronic thermostat.
Hope I can...
