If they were all alive at lockdown and do die in the process they won't rot fast enough wreck the rest of the hatch. I've had many die after lockdown and they will be just fine.

I had originally set a clutch of 8 eggs the week before I put these guys in.

And once they started hatching was the first time my husband even looked at them.They were climbing all over the other eggs, rolling them around, clacking them into each other. He couldn't bear it, I guess. He's as big a baby as I am. LOL!!!

I know exactly how you feel but I must tell myself to use self control and they will be fine. DO NOT OPEN BATOR. One of my bators on this last batch I opened too many and killed over 20 eggs, it WON"T happen again!! We live by our mistakes for sure.

I wonder if that's what happened to the rest of this clutch. I told him not to open it!!!

He starts a job in two weeks, so...

I was hoping to make it a family project, but he wasn't interested in a bunch of eggs. Then they became babies, and he's all over them.

Isn't that how it always goes. I hatch so many my husband is sick of hearing about it so I don't ever have to worry about it. It's just controlling myself at times. The only reason I opened this last bator was I was heading to a swap yesterday and had to pull chicks to sell, I should of left it alone and left without them but dummy me.

I want to take my time and think everything through on this one so I've been looking at many Youtube video's and perusing Ebay for parts. Not buying anything yet but making a list of possibilities. Anyway I was looking at the available digital temp controllers and while I want accuracy I also need affordability. Came across this listing and would like your opinion on it.

No one has built an incubator with built-in thermal mass.
I say build one with a 1/2" layer of cement board and insulation on the outside of THAT!
I do believe many have used that same thermostat as a replacement on incubators....
