I like both of mine. I can keep them within 2 degrees.I usually place a light throw blanket on top of them to help eliminate heat loss through the plexi on the top and it works great. Kids love watching them hatch and you can just slide it to the side to check temps. If you read my other post...

I can tell you what I do and it works for me. Try to follow I will explain the best I can. To start I have a basic cooler bator as you could find on here, it is the hard shell type, not the cheap styrofoam. My cooler will fit 3 egg cartons side by side with 2 egg compartments cut off one end of...

Yep, a hot water heater thermostat at lowes cost me just under $8. All the rest were reuse items, light socket, old power cord, computer fan, and cooler. I figure for the price of some expensive bator I can turn my eggs at least 3x a day. Been averaging 80% hatch rate at the moment so I cannot...

I have the same problem. I have figured out that by building a hatcher I can just cycle eggs through the incubator on a weekly basis. New fluffy butts every week!Has worked great for about 3 weeks! Until tonight when I figured out how to get even more eggs in my homemade cooler bator . I really...

Ok so I may have went a little overboard, but I couldn't help it. There were simply to many eggs sitting about begging to be hatched! I now have 88 eggs in a homemade cooler incubator. It is so full I have to tilt the actually cooler to "turn" the eggs. Now I just have to figure out how to...

Well it has been some time since I last posted in here. Had to move and finally got things settled. Of course I went straight to hatching eggs. Had 3 incubators running with araucana eggs. Chicks hatched for three weekends in a row. Took two weeks off and now have some Lay Buckeyes in on day 8...

Well I am sad to say the little chick didn't make it. Not sure what happen as I was keeping an eye on it. Went in to check on it and it was no longer moving. So is life I guess.

i had punched a hole in the air sac end yesterday to see if i could see movement and did in this egg only(2 others were dead). I put tape over the hole and when I checked it today the membrane was basically white. I tried to open the hole a little more to see if I could see the veins as it all...

ok so now day 24, i still have the one chick that refuses to hatch. I removed the tape and checked again and you can see the heartbeat movement through the membrane and see it moving. I am a little concerned as it is later than the others and it seems the membrane looks "tighter" today. Almost...
