You turn them by hand. This was made long before they had turners I believe.

Well I packed in one Sportsmans lasntight with 18 dozen eggs and had 10 cochin bantams extra and threw those in the 2nd Sportsman along with the 19 guinea eggs I had left after the big temp spike in the industrial that killed nearly 200(80+ were live chicks that hatched) The sportsmans seem to...

Nope never tried it, seen it was kerosene and give it a once over when I got home. Found out it was over a 100 years old and the label is still intact and excellent so I was scared to even do anything with it. I've seen many im CL for sale for well over $250. I think of I were in your situation...

I added a photo, I'd be willing to sell it for what it cost me plus shipping to get it to you. $100 plus shipping. I really have no use for it and didn't know what it was before I bought it. I just heard "Incubator" and my brain scrambled, most of you know how that is!!

I have an old Kerosene one that I picked up sight unseen but after getting it decided it was too nice to convert over to power. It sure is neat looking.

Im actually trying to start a small hatchery at the moment. My first bator was the Brinsea Eco 20 with turner and it has more than payed for itself. I've tried many different brands and it is the best.

I have a Brinsea also and it's the best. Just wish they were a little cheaper so I could get a bigger one as it's too small for me. I just bought 2 Sportsmans cabinets lastnight for $650 and have 4 Jamesway industrial bators besides 3 home made ones.

I have some that have the fast feathering gene for pullets but not sure what you have or if that breed you have is known for that gene. I just know I have it from keeping records over the past 2 years. So it's not wrong thinking, it's just genetics.

Isn't that how it always goes. I hatch so many my husband is sick of hearing about it so I don't ever have to worry about it. It's just controlling myself at times. The only reason I opened this last bator was I was heading to a swap yesterday and had to pull chicks to sell, I should of left it...

I know exactly how you feel but I must tell myself to use self control and they will be fine. DO NOT OPEN BATOR. One of my bators on this last batch I opened too many and killed over 20 eggs, it WON"T happen again!! We live by our mistakes for sure.

If they were all alive at lockdown and do die in the process they won't rot fast enough wreck the rest of the hatch. I've had many die after lockdown and they will be just fine.

I'm quite lucky with that as my hubby doesn't touch any of my chickens. I felt the same way when I first started hatching but then realized that they were ok in the bator until the others hatched. Unless it's days apart I just leave them all in.

Congrats, I noticed a few had some wet on them yet. I wasn't sure if you knew you could leave them in the bator for at least 24 hours without food or water. When I first started hatching I thought you had to take them out right away, now I leave them in until the hatch is done which has lasted...

If I have problems after these cabinets that hold over 150 dozen each I'm in serious trouble. As long as I keep my chicken population down at home I'll be fine and I have been doing really well not buying any chickens yet this year and could sell a few more yet. I only have 34 adults and 6...

I am in the same boat, 9 doz sitting waiting for the ones in lockdown to hatch. Until I get the monster bators running so I will never have a room problem again. Good Luck!

Yes 4, they are now consuming my garage stall until I can figure out what the heck I'm going to do with them.

I guess each unit holds 90 dozen eggs, pretty insane if you ask me. Each tray seems to hold about 9 dozen and theirs 12 trays so actually could do more than that. I did read online though it said they can hold 3000 eggs so either way it's ALOT. After some research this morning I found these are...

Have been having a hard time catching up with all the threads so thought I'd give an update. After the last hatch I decided to tear down the Hova-bator and put the guts into my home made steak cooler bator as the turner fit perfectly and the foam is 3 times the thickness as the Hova was and was...

I did that last year and ended up getting alot mixed up. This year I am using colored hair ties from Family Dollar and just banding my specific breeds instead of worrying about my out crosses as I was working on Jubilees, Lav Orp, Lemon Cuckoo Orp, Bo, Marans, and about a half dozen others which...
