On the topic of frizzles. These are a family member's baby Polish, ended up with 4 frizzles out of 7 babies. She was wanting to keep a cockerel though and she can't keep any of the frizzle boys... They're just a week old and I was fairly accurately able to ID the frizzles early on.

Yes, frizzle is a breed but I've yet to see a purebred frizzle or find someone who breeds them. They're supposed to be single combed, cleaned legged, with four toes, and I don't think they're supposed to be bearded or crested. Breeds with frizzle as a recognised variety are Polish, Cochin, and...

That is a decent amount of frizzles!

I laugh because all the chickens that had range of the paddock got very wet, Cloud was no longer a frizzle 😂 And the silkies must've stood in the rain or something, cause even with the added tarp all three of them were soggy and needed towel drying and to sleep in the shed.

After me saying how dry it's gonna be, rained all of yesterday :rolleyes: It was needed so not going to complain.

Unfortunately it looks like it's gonna be a very hot and dry summer :hmm

I reckon there's some frizzles there ;) The curls will slowly become more distinct.

I've had two frizzle chicks. The feather tips on their wings curl back toward their head. I couldn't really tell on the videos, except that one with the fully white head looked a little suspicious.

I also moved most of the chooks to the pens in the paddock, now they get to free range during the day.

Yes, she is. Her, a couple of the Sussex pullets, and one of the cockerels are going to live with a family member on the weekend.
