Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I also moved most of the chooks to the pens in the paddock, now they get to free range during the day.

Hello everyone, i'm new to the forum as of today, and new to getting chickens. We are based in Canbera, ACT and I was curious if anyone know of a good supplier to buy 4-5 chickens. Looking at Isa Browns, and Australorp chickens. Thanks

:frow Hello and welcome!
I am 150km south of Canberra, so not that far away.
I don't know of any good suppliers, although I do know of a few bad ones on gumtree, so maybe avoid that, although I have seen a few businesses on gumtree which have point of lay pullets of those breeds, and 'might' be more reputable than private sellers.
(Haven't tried them though)

Hi! I'm in Adelaide so I don't have any ACT info, but welcome!

Have you read up on both those breeds? I love Australorps, but I'm not very enthusiastic about ISA Browns. They don't seem to live long, healthy lives.

I'm 2hr north of Canberra and our feed supplier is a dropoff point for POL ISA Browns sold by a large commercial supplier called Duncan's Poultry. They supply to many parts of NSW. Do a google search for them as they may supply to your local feed store or near enough for you to pick up. The last time I checked they also supply Australorp hybrids and other good laying breeds. Reviews have been good about them and all their chooks come vaccinated. It was $30 per girl last year but has probably gone up now due to inflation.
