@Sussex19 have you come across any active Sussex breed threads? I would love if there's a breeders thread, but I'd settle for general thread too!

I have not, I think I have searched for one previously, and didn't come up with anything.@Sussex19 have you come across any active Sussex breed threads? I would love if there's a breeders thread, but I'd settle for general thread too!

I think in the US Sussexes aren't really that popular, somehow.![]()
100%!But they're so good! I think I view them as very reliable chickens.
I had to look up what a Red Sussex looks like, I hadn't heard of them before. Was considering the other day if I might want to breed Red as well as Buff...
I don't seem to remember having health issues with my Sussex either. I've had a bit of bad luck with rooster though, main reason we changed from light to buff because they're supposed to be nicer (I've still had a couple aggressive ones though100%!
They have been my healthiest chickens so far, and my most reliable layers. Best temperaments too!
I'd love to see how your cuckoos end up!I had to look up what a Red Sussex looks like, I hadn't heard of them before.
Very nice!
I am looking at trying to breed Cuckoo Sussex, as Cuckoo is one of my favorite colours.
Just for myself, but it will be interesting!
My Light is a gentleman, and apparently his father was as well. So I guess like with any breed, it comes down to the individual, and his genetics.I've had a bit of bad luck with rooster though, main reason we changed from light to buff because they're supposed to be nicer (I've still had a couple aggressive ones though).
I think it helps I understand my roosters better now.My Light is a gentleman, and apparently his father was as well. So I guess like with any breed, it comes down to the individual, and his genetics.
All his cockerels have been well behaved as well except for one batch of 7. They were little terrors, and would all grab hold of my boots and jeans and try to flog me.
The only thing I did differently was feeding them by hand when they were just entering their teen 'years' (weeks!) and sitting down with them.
But I have occasionally fed others by hand, and not had any problems, but never a whole flock of cockerels at the same time!
Pretty good! Busy at work but handling it so far.Hey, how’s everyone doing?
That’s good!Pretty good! Busy at work but handling it so far.
How about you?
