Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

PS I read somewhere else that you shouldn't give anything that is high in vitamin B1 (including egg yolk) while they're on Cocci meds, do you know anything about this? I've been feeding mine scrambled egg the past few days to get their weight up.

Thanks Fancychooklady. Can you get amprolium from any produce store? I did look at the poop pics (it's bookmarked now lol), and I thought it looks like it could be one of the "normal" ones with intestinal lining sheds? But I wasn't sure. Anything else I should include in my first aid box...

Thanks, I hope Fancychooklady or someone can help! It's a bit liquidy too, not sure if it's cecal or diarrhea. There was another batch that looked similar but no red bits in it. I have treated them for cocci with baycox from vet on the weekend, and also wormed them with levamisole in the water...

Sorry for the image... I found this poo in the coop this morning and not sure if it's normal?? I consulted the "poo chart" and it looks like a normal one with shed intestinal lining but also not sure if it's bloody poo i need to worry about? Can anyone help? Thanks!

Just caught up on the thread. Sorry for your loss, satay and Kat.. But I'm glad your other chook came back, satay! I've been feeding my girls up with lots of protein the past couple of days. Tried to feel their crops tonight after they went to roost but I could barely feel it (especially on one...

Thanks Satay, I think I'm going to do that as I've already bought heaps of stuff like mince etc to feed them (for now). I picked them up last night to give them their last cocci meds and they still felt very thin - not sure if even thinner than the day before or I'm just imagining it - but...

Oh no I don't, but I've just started giving some to them the past two days trying to get their weight up. Also gave them scrambled egg today. Do you think I should just keep at it, or switch the food to the finisher and not worry about giving them too much extra stuff like meat etc?

If I feed them such a high protein food, would it still be ok to give them minced meat and dried mealworms which are also high in protein? Or would it be protein overload?

Thanks Fancychooklady. Showbird is micro pellet too. I gave them some scrambled egg and yogurt with oats this morning. And some cooked lamb mince. Will try pasta with sardines sometime soon!

Yes that's what I use. I heard it's a good feed, and it's what's recommended by the breeder and the produce shop guy.

Thanks satay. No they didn't take a poop sample. There was no diarrhea in the box. Although this morning I just realised it's Nugget, my Sussex, who has a bit of a dirty bottom. I didn't take her to the vet last night as she was the one who didn't look sick (still has a good weight on her etc)...

Thanks! I feed them Showbird Pellet (17% protein). They've been on the same food since POL. Do you have any recommendation of a better feed out there? I just called my local shop, they said other than Moximax (I think it's what Cydectin is), there's also The Big L Wormer, which you mix in with...

Hi all, I'm new here and I was wondering if you could tell me the best wormer you can get in Australia? I currently give my girls Moximax every 3 months, but I'm having a problem - one of my chooks died yesterday :( - which may be worm related. I posted more details here...
