Oh yeah, I read about that. I don't like that society has gotten to where people are often assumed to be guilty of something just for having a gun, but I also don't like people going around looking for trouble over it. I'm all for open carry, but not for trying to create drama.
I spent $10 at Walmart today, and finally have a bag for my pistol. I'll need to do something to strengthen it, but this will sure beat just putting it on the floor in the back seat of the truck.
I had a Barska red dot on my Ruger MKII, but I couldn't get used to it and removed it. At a friends suggestion, I put it on my AR pistol. I haven't sighted it in yet, but I think it'll work better on there.
I just fired it for the first time, and it was great. The chickens had followed me into the driveway, but when I started shooting they decided to walk down to the other end of the house.

Assembly complete! I still need to do a little painting (on the logo), but I finished the assembly several hours ago. It may get fired for the first time very soon.
I got my front sight base;
I ordered a Bushmaster teardrop forward assist, and some cheap front sight posts. I'll replace the FSP later, with a Trijicon Tritium, but I want to get this gun ready to shoot.
I've seen a few others with the lettering colored in, so i decided to try it on mine. I also installed the dust cover, that arrived this afternoon.

It bleeds off some of the expanding gas that propels the bullet, through a small hole in the top of the barrel, to cycle the action. The gas block/front sight base I'm going to get channels that gas through the tube and back to the bolt carrier group.
