Picked some peas, brought in some of the pots, currently debating doing the same for the ones with kale and root crops in them while I wait for the WD-40 to soak into the hose threads and swear at the YouTube videos advising taking a hack saw to it. I don’t own a hack saw YouTube! And I would...
I harvested more onion trimmings, and have been trying to close any holes and gaps in my frost cloth for the upcoming 30-degree weather. It’s not supposed to hit until the end of the week but it’s supposed to rain tomorrow and I’m certainly not going to want to do it then. :p
It’s supposed to be highs around 80s for the next few days but lows around freezing near the end of the week. Looks like I need to disconnect the hose and start moving in more of the stuff in pots.
Harvested some basil today, set it out to dry.
The squash still hasn’t even started to produce anything and we are now officially in October, so I guess I don’t need to go crazy trying to protect it anymore. 😮💨 Next time!
Harvested the tarragon and some sage. Took clippings of both to try to root (again, hope springs eternal!).
Yikes! I’ve heard marigolds can help, and some species of beneficial nematodes. Good luck, whatever you decide to do! 🙏
Could be genetic drift/variety changes in the tomatoes too. Do you remember what variety of tomatoes they had?
Same, I’ve been wanting to do some minor projects for a while now. 🤔
Kale was starting to look more like swiss cheese than leafy greens, so I sprayed it. I’d been hoping the cooler temps would discourage the bugs but I guess not. 😕 I’m strongly leaning towards not bothering with it again, the pests around here like it too much.
I have successfully grown lettuce in a disposable cake pan so +1 it should be fine in a dorm, at least from a space perspective. Spinach too.
Not sure about some of those but lavender and milkweed will germinate better if they’ve been cold stratified, so if you can shove them in the fridge for...
It’s hard to tell for sure since I’m just peeking through the soaking wet frost cloth, but I think one of my melons is starting to get its netting finally.
More rain today! And I’m glad I didn’t try the Christmas lights thing at the beginning of the season - there are moths all over the frost cloth. At this stage any caterpillars they produce will probably die when winter rolls around.
+1, there were recalls before the robots too.
It’s raining finally! Praise the Lord!
Yes, dill brings in hoverflies. Their babies eat aphids!
Mine is all seeds presently so the aphids are creeping back. :tongue
Almost every time I look at my forecast the rain seems to be farther off. I hope you get as much rain as you need!
Mine is actually very good about things on shelves! If he wants something moved off the shelf he will sit in front of it and yell until I move it. ❤️ He does have a bad habit of...
Had to trim back the indoor basil - several plants were trying to bolt again. 😒 Also harvested some seeds today - romaine lettuce, catnip, a few pea pods from the second sowing.
