    Check out Polish hens, not known for cold hardness but mine stand up remarkably well! Also check out Hedemoras and Cream Legbars, fantastic, cold hardy birds especially the hedmoras!

    To pill a duck you need to put the pill on the roof of their mouth and slide it back using the roof of their bill as a guide until it goes down. Hope this helps! It does take a good bit of practice

    Does anyone know what would peck holes in the heads of baby wrens in the nest and then throw them out? We found 2 on the ground and one dangling from the house,while momma was screaming her head off in a nearby tree with the male nowhere to be seen, we suspect sparrow.

    Something is definitely off. try adding brewers yeast to her food to increase her niacin, a ratio of 20 to 1. I use Thomas labs brewers yeast and garlic(http://www.amazon.com/Thomas-Labratories-110-1110-P07-Brewers-Garlic/dp/B0021WVKV8) And the girls absolutely love it.

    If you are looking for marans I highly recommend BJ'S Poultry in Howell. http://www.bjspoultry.com/ Their BCM have 4 bloodlines (Bev Davis, GreenFire Farms, Fancy Chick and Wade Jeane) They have feathered shanks to the french standard. I believe you can get chicks or eggs.

    If you just want organic Family Farm and Home has good feed but it is a little pricey at $27 for 50lbs. Personally I recommend Scratch and Peck Starter online for $18 for 25lbs (Its worth every penny). You can also get countryside organics (All soy free) online $30 for 50lbs. I have never found...
