After a few disastrous years, no thanks to predators, I finally have a few nice Lavender (Isabel) Wheaten Ameraucanas roosters. Now comes the time to choose a breeding roo. I've narrowed it down to two out of 5. Neither are perfect but not too bad in my opinion. I'm looking for opinions.

Some of you have been waiting a long time for these

Ends Saturday 8pm EST
@DMRippy yes been working on it for what seems like forever. Counting parent stock 6 years....though the past couple years I didn't put too much effort into it. Breeding pens are going right now, hatching out new stock and when I get my fill of chicks I will be selling a couple dozen eggs...
Took some digging but here is the page. It has been a while since I updated it. Hopefully I'll get some more results over the winter. https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/lav-shack
That person would be me...yes it is a very long process. I posted all the genetics and pictures on my page somewhere on byc. I have nothing to offer. Everything is either molting or to young to lay :/
Hey all, I just an FYI
posted an aution for some project lavender wheaten ameraucana eggs https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/758226/auction-lavender-wheaten-project-ameraucana-eggs
Here are a couple of blue wheaten's (formerly mine) for comparison and one of my lavender (aka self-blue) hen's. Unless your hen is in some funky lighting, I'd say she's a a blue not a self-blue.
TNBarnQueen- What project do you want to start? There are a bunch genetics geeks ....I mean guru's here, myself included, that can help you out. A couple pointers, ameraucana's don't have tufts...those would be araucanas, which are also a tailless bird. Ameraucana's have beards and muffs...
Yes! I originally started mottled (that didn't get very far ) then noticed my Milli D'anvers have slate legs hmmmmmmmm hence the millie ameraucana project.
Awesome! BTW I have millie project going...they said it was impossible but so far so good. Legs are solid slate no blotches due to the molting gene. This young hen came in my order from John Blehm last year.......an anomaly YES! Out crossing her this winter.
Here is a resource for those whom are interested in breeding "outside" of the box. This is reserved for members whom have questions, concerns or just want to show off what they have done so far. Please keep the posts to what you are actually trying to create not what the fence jumper did to...
