Just thought this was too cute not to share!
Sorry to everyone having predator problems... We lost 5 to a fox in the spring but have done pretty good since then... knock on wood! Now if I could just keep the mice out of the house
I have a room in the basement. I transition them to the tack room in the barn as soon as they can go out with a heat lamp ( it's not drafty in there) then out to a stall with a large panel heater. Or at least that's the plan... So far I've been lucky as its not gotten that cold but this 22 chick...
I have been a hatching fool! I have 9 Black Copper Marans from an import line and 10 Legbars (I have spare Legbar Roos). I have 3 LP BCM and 11 more eggs in a staggered hatch. Just hatched 22 BCM from a breeder in Tennessee who is getting REALLY DARK eggs. I also have Ameraucana and Breese eggs...
I will have Black Copper Marans Cockerals in the spring. I have 32 hatched in the last few weeks.. Will be ready to cut some from the breeding program in the spring :D
I have 4 Black Copper Marans that are about two weeks old and 5 Sulmtaler chicks that are about 5 weeks old. I would like to sell all 9 together. PM me if interested. The Sulmtalers are straight from Greenfire Farms. I won them in a rare breed auction. I hatched the BCM but I have 3 bloodlines...
Lastly I have 2 Olive Eggers from Chicken Scratch Poultry, 2 Welsummers from Dutch Connection Farm and 2 Tufted, Tailed, Araucanas. (The Araucanas are a blue Cockerel and a black Pullet)
I also have 8 Sulmtaler chicks straight from Greenfire. They are straight run, about 2 weeks old and I will sell all 8 together for $100 (The adult bird picture is from the Greenfire Farm site)

I have 2 Marans hens. One has nice color and lays daily, the other has a high tail set and is going through a molt. $35 each for the hens. I also have 4 Birchen Marans chicks 2 weeks old- $20 each or $60 for all 4 (they are straight run)
Not sure if you've posted here before, but regardless, Welcome to the Indiana Thread! (you can click on the link at the bottom of this message for more info). I want to know what breed of chicken is on your avatar?? So striking! It looks like the eyes and waddles are gray/blue, too?

I went through phase one rather quickly. All the way to having birds shipped from all over. I have Sulmtaler chicks that just arrived and have had, during the last year, no less than 20 breeds. I have settled into Black Copper Marans, Araucanas, Cream Legbars, Bielefelders. I have some...

My 160# Great Dane is great with our flock. She is very laid back in general and does not have a high play or prey drive. I thought she would be a bit more protective but honestly I think if a fox came in the yard she would just yawn and cover her ears until the commotion was over lol. I love...
I have a Lavender Orp from her as well as two Oliver Eggers. She is my "go to" when I can't find a breed close. I have Legbar chicks coming from Greenfire next week to add to my Legbar flock and a trio of Welsummers coming from Dutch Connection. I will be ready to hatch babies next spring :)
Hello! It kinda threw me seeing pictures of my birds, lol ...ones that I didn't post :) See you Saturday!
I did the same thing. I got several EE before I found a breeder with nice birds. I drove 2 hours once. Now I always ask for pictures before I make a trip. I will say my Easter Eggers are...
