    I had burlap bags covering the openings for privacy when laying the eggs, apparently they were able to get on the boxes with the bags covering the openings. I removed the burlap bags yesterday... Now they (at least 2) are using the nest boxes.

    My chicks/hens finally figured out what the roost is for. Now they are trying to roost on the nest boxes.... hubby made the boxes with a 45 angle on it so they couldn't roost on there....they figured a way to roost there anyway. :/

    Congrats Musicgal!!! Mine have always gone in when it gets dark so I got lucky there. I have an enclosed coop/run but I always get worried about something getting in the fence after them. My husband installed a pop door for our chicks.

    Any one know why hens will go in the coop at night and all of them gather in one corner of the coop? They have a roost, it is 18 inches high and about 8 ft long
